Duck River Utility Commission Issues Water Conservation Request

By Katie Northcott, News Director

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, Coffee County Mayor Dennis Hunt issued a press release stating that the Duck River Utility Commission (DRUC) had issued a water conservation request.

Hunt has asked that all users of DRUC public water supply practice conservation. According to its website, DRUC supplies water to Manchester and Tullahoma as well as surrounding areas.

DRUC General Manager Randal Braker contacted Hunt with the initial request. Braker’s full statement is copied below.

The DRUC is struggling with high demand coming out of that cold snap and have issued a public request for water conservation for the next two weeks. Each system we supply will be sending it out to their customers.

No one is out of water, but we are trying to be proactive and prevent a water outage problem. Right now are about 40 to 50% in most tanks, but we cannot seem to gain any ground overnight so we are asking for voluntary conservation.
