On Tuesday, Jan. 13, Mike Anderson, Chairman of the Water and Sewer Commission, and Nelson Watson, Vice Chairman Water and Sewer Commission, submitted a letter of resignation to Manchester Mayor Joey Hobbs and the Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA).
Anderson’s resignation will be effective as of Friday, Jan. 16.
The text of the letter is copied below:
Mayor Hobbs and City of Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen:
I, Michael Anderson, hereby resign my appointment to the Manchester Water and Sewer Commission effective at Noon, January 16, 2026.
I wish the very best for Director Foley, the Water and Sewer Department, and the W&S Commission. May their endeavors find great success.
Watson made the following comment to Peterson Media Group:
I’ve been on the commission since 2014, and I’m ready to focus on some other things in my life. I wish the Water and Sewer Department the best.
Anderson’s and Watson’s resignations come after Anderson recently accused BOMA of violating Manchester Municipal Code in its appointment of Lonnie Foley as Director of the Water and Sewer Department.
