Cathy Diane Veal, age 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Manchester, Tennessee, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Born on February 2, 1957, in the small town of Walhalla, South Carolina, Cathy was the cherished daughter of the late Daniel and Corena McCall. Cathy was a woman with a big heart who devoted her life to caring for her home, her loved ones, and every living creature that crossed her path. While her primary calling was as a homemaker—creating a warm, welcoming home for her family—she never hesitated to pitch in and work alongside her husband on his concrete construction projects whenever he needed a hand.
Cathy had a profound love for nature and animals. An avid gardener, her passion for flowers was unmatched, and she spent countless hours tending to her gardens. She also held a special place in her heart for dogs, lovingly opening her home and heart to rescue and raise many strays over the years. Above all else, Cathy was deeply family-oriented. She treasured every moment spent with her family and shared an exceptionally close, lifelong bond with her sister Susan, whom she affectionately called “Sister.”
In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Donald Veal, and her sister, Laura McCall Roberts.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family: her son, Joshua Killen; her daughter, Brooke Killen; her sister, Rebecca Minger (Mark); her brothers, Daniel McCall Jr. (Cindy) and Jeffrey McCall (Leah); her grandson, Bryan McCall; her great-grandchildren, Kylee Paige McCall and Gradynn McCall; her special great-niece, Skylar Bells; her special friend, Josephine Smith; as well as 11 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, and a large extended family.
The family will hold a private service at a later date to celebrate Cathy’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice in deep appreciation for their wonderful care, compassion, and support during this difficult time.
Manchester Funeral Home is honored to serve the Veal family during this time.
