Coffee County Democrats to Host ‘No Kings’ Event in Manchester on Saturday

Leaders of the Coffee County Democratic Party have announced the group is organizing and intends to host what it is calling a “No Kings” event in Manchester on Saturday, Oct. 18.

The event is set from 9 a.m. until noon on the sidewalk near Walgreens in Manchester. The Coffee County Democratic Party posted on social media claiming that President Donald Trump has “repeatedly attacked due process and birthright citizenship, undermining the 5th and 14th Amendments.”

“Across the country, we’re watching a dangerous shift, echoing the rise of kings and strongmen throughout history. This isn’t just rhetoric—it’s the abuse of real power, liberties stripped away, and the unraveling of the American experiment.

“Trump has repeatedly attacked due process and birthright citizenship, undermining the 5th and 14th Amendments. He’s pressured agencies to silence critics, pushed for media licenses to be revoked, and now journalists and entertainers are being punished—Stephen Colbert fired, Jimmy Kimmel suspended, people losing jobs for condemning Charlie Kirk. These are direct attacks on the 1st Amendment, which is the bedrock of this nation.

“Most alarming of all: Trump is openly considering a third term, in defiance of the 22nd Amendment—and many supporters are cheering him on. He wants to be a king, and MAGA is eager to crown him.

“The Founding Fathers wrote the U.S. Constitution to prevent this exact situation, but we are now witnessing it unravelling right before our very eyes.

“No one is coming to save us. The Constitution only works if We the People defend it.

“The Coffee County Democratic Party invites you to join us for the NO KINGS Protest on Saturday, October 18th, 9 AM to 12 PM, at the intersection in front of Walgreens in Manchester. We’ll have music, chants, and guest speakers from local organizations, uniting against authoritarianism.

“Then join us for a lunch social from 12–1 PM at La Rivera Mexican Restaurant, where we’ll build bridges and community.

“Let us gather—peacefully, proudly, and publicly—to say NO authoritarian overreach. NO attacks on free speech. And NO KINGS—not in Tennessee, in Washington, or anywhere else in America.“
