The complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Magistrate Christopher H. Steger is presiding over the case. Austin said the complaint does not include all the facts uncovered during his investigation.

Carson is charged with knowing possession of or access with intent to view any film, videotape, computer disk, or material that contains child pornography knowing that the material is child pornography and that the material had been shipped or transported using any means or facility of interstate commerce or in or affecting interstate commerce by any means, including by computer.

According to the complaint affidavit, “the FBI opened an investigation into Carson in January 2026 after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (‘TBI’) referred to FBI Tullahoma two cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children involving Carson. The FBI investigation determined that, between February 2024 and August 2025, Carson made four Cash App transactions of Bitcoin to a wallet associated with child sexual abuse material. Based on the FBI investigation, the Honorable Judge Christopher H. Steger ordered law enforcement to search Carson’s residence for, among other items, images of child pornography and to
seize materials containing images of child pornography.”

Federal and state law enforcement executed a search of Carson’s residence on Feb. 5 and seized multiple electronic devices. The FBI coordinated with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department and Tullahoma Police Department for the search.

Coffee County Sheriff Chad Partin said in a statement to Peterson Media Group that his office has an investigator assigned to the FBI’s task force. He said that the investigator was asked to “take local warrants” to search Carson’s residence. Partin said he wasn’t aware that his investigator had taken out the warrant and that his office didn’t have any other involvement in the investigation other than searching Carson’s residence.

The complaint obtained by Peterson Media Group states that during an interview with the FBI and TBI, Carson allegedly admitted to viewing child pornography since he was in his early twenties and reported he had viewed “hundreds to thousands” of images “that were definitely illegal.” Carson allegedly said he had viewed child pornography as recently as the week before the search.

Carson allegedly confirmed his control over the Cash App account the FBI had linked to him, saying the payments went to a subscription service that gave him access to a large amount of child pornography. He allegedly said he preferred pornography featuring girls around sixteen years old but that he viewed pornography featuring victims of all ages, the complaint states.

Though Carson allegedly denied downloading images or videos containing child pornography, Austin said he knew of at least three video previews saved to Carson’s iPad. The videos were each three seconds long and depicted sexually explicit content featuring a three-year-old, a two-or-three-year-old, and a young person who was approximately fifteen years old.

An Order Setting Conditions of Release for Carson was filed on Friday, Feb. 13. Carson’s release is conditioned on a $10,000 unsecured bond, which will be charged to Carson if he fails to appear before Steger at 2 p.m. on March 5. Carson has also been ordered to report to a probation officer, to surrender his passport, to remain in his residence at all times with exceptions for employment; religious services; medical, substance abuse, or mental health treatment; attorney visits; court appearances; court-ordered obligations; or other activities as pre-approved by the pretrial services officer or supervising officer. Carson will be subject to Radio Frequency monitoring.

Carson must not have unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 18 with the exception of any of his own children who may be under 18. The court further specified that Carson may not participate in any employment or volunteer activities that are primarily associated with children under 18 or at which children under 18 tend to congregate, without prior written approval of the court or probation officer.

Carson’s next hearing is set for 2 p.m. on March 5.
