Peterson Media Group extends congratulations to this week’s hometown heroes of the week across all four radio stations: Sherman White (Thunder Radio), Dana Gearlds (93.9 The Duck), Jacob Hill (The Rooster 101.5), and Tim Dixon (Whiskey Country 105.1 & 95.9).
Hometown heroes of the Week are recognized each Wednesday on Peterson Media Group’s radio station Facebook pages. Click here to nominate for Hometown Hero of the Week.
White is a lieutenant with the Manchester Fire Department. Here’s what the person who nominated him had to say:
“Lt. White is the most upstanding man I know. He takes tremendous pride in his job, and the guys at the fire hall love and respect him. He welcomes anyone, whether they’re new or experienced, to come to him for advice. He has never met a stranger. I sleep better at night knowing we have people like Lt. White and Mr. Wooten protecting our community should we ever need them. These men are the first ones in and the last ones out.”

Gearlds is an emergency department registered nurse. Here’s what the person who nominated her had to say:
“Dana is the definition of dedication and selflessness. As an Emergency Department Registered Nurse, she works tirelessly caring for others while also balancing the demands of her FNP/ENP classes to further her education and better serve her community. She also cares for her dogs, cats, chickens, and goats, and always makes time to support her five adult children whenever they need her. Dana constantly puts others before herself, and her hard work, compassion, and commitment to both her family and profession make her truly deserving of being recognized as a hero.”

Hill is a 911 dispatcher at the Coffee County Communications Center. Here’s what the person who nominated him had to say:
“Jacob is a dedicated and awesome man. If it wasn’t for him, our emergency services would not be able to operate. He plays a vital role in the lives of others and helps keep first responders connected when every second counts.”

Dixon is a firefighter in Shelbyville. Here’s what the person who nominated him had to say:
“Tim sacrifices every day to protect his community as a firefighter and first responder. He has always put others before himself and has a genuine love for his family, friends, and the people he serves. His dedication, bravery, and selfless heart make him truly deserving of this recognition.”
