Lady Cats Let Lead Slip Away

The Tullahoma Lady Cats (3-2, 14-9) led visiting Giles County (3-2, 11-6) by 14 points with one minute remaining in the first quarter at the THS gym Monday night. By halftime, the lead had shrunk to six points, and by the end of the third quarter, the Tullahoma lead was down to two.

It was all Giles County from there, as the Bobcats outscored the Lady Cats 14-4 in the fourth period and left The Cat Palace with a 46-38 victory, forcing a three-way tie for first place in the District 12-3A standings.

Fatigue may have been a factor, considering Tullahoma was playing its third game in four days. Last Friday, the Lady Cats beat Marshall County 45-25, followed by a 61-40 road victory at Cannon County on Saturday. Tullahoma travels to Lawrence County (3-2, 11-10), with tipoff at 6 pm this Friday on 93.9 The Duck.

Senior McLayne Bobo entered the game with 1,499 points and hit the 1,500-point milestone 10 seconds in with a layup. Bobo earned the Midtown Nutrition Player of the Game with 17 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

Kenzie Farrell added 10 points, four rebounds, and three steals, but no other Tullahoma player scored more than 3 points as Giles County held the Lady Cats to 26% shooting from the field while connecting at 47%. Tullahoma also struggled at the free-throw line, connecting on only 7 of 17 attempts, while the visitors hit 5 of 5.
