By Katie Northcott, News Director

Marvin Carson, who faces charges related to possession of child pornography, has been granted another continuance by Tennessee Eastern District Court Judge Travis McDonough. Before his arrest, Carson was well-known in the local community as the owner of Carson Chiropractic in Manchester.

Carson’s trial was originally set for May 11, 2026, before he was granted his first continuance in April. The new trial was set for July 13. Carson’s lawyer filed for the second continuance on June 22, and the continuance was granted on June 23.

Carson’s summary schedule is now set as follows:

  • Defendant’s expert testimony disclosure deadline – September 14, 2026
  • Plea bargain deadline – September 21, 2026
  • Pre-trial motion deadline – September 21, 2026
  • Jury instruction deadline – October 5, 2026
  • Final Pretrial Conference – 3 p.m. on October 5, 2026
  • Trial – 9 a.m. on October 12

McDonough granted the continuance on the basis that “additional time appears to be necessary for effective representation.” Carson’s lawyer said in his motion that the Government is still producing discovery materials and more time is needed for “expert review of the evidence”.

Carson was first arrested at his residence in Tullahoma on Feb. 5 by local law enforcement. On Feb. 12, FBI Special Agent Jordan Austin submitted a complaint against Carson in the Tennessee Eastern District Court.

On Feb. 12, the Court issued an arrest warrant for Carson. He was charged with knowing possession of or access with intent to view any film, videotape, computer disk, or material that contains child pornography knowing that the material is child pornography and that the material had been shipped or transported using any means or facility of interstate commerce or in or affecting interstate commerce by any means, including by computer.

A Grand Jury indictment of Carson was filed on Feb. 24. Carson submitted a not guilty plea to the Court on March 5 at his arraignment.
