Taylor, Wildcats Shut Down Rebels in 12-3A Tournament

Senior Lukas Taylor struck out 11 batters while scattering three hits and a pair of walks to lead the Tullahoma Wildcats to a 2-0 victory over the Franklin County Rebels on Thursday in the District 12-3A Tournament in Lawrenceburg, advancing to play Lawrence County on Saturday at 2 pm on 93.9 The Duck.

The Rebels fall into the elimination bracket and play Giles County on Friday. Marshall County opened the tournament by beating Giles County, but the host team overpowered the Tigers 14-1 on Thursday. Saturday’s Tullahoma/Lawrence County winner advances to Monday’s championship game, while the loser must turn around and play again at 4:30 pm.

Tullahoma got just enough offense to win, scratching out a run in the third inning and an insurance run in the sixth. The Cats had five hits and drew three walks against Rebel starter Gus Gardner.

Xander Pogue had two hits and scored a run, with Parke Fulks and Brycen Campbell driving in runs and Campbell adding an RBI. The Wildcats had additional offensive opportunities, stranding the bases loaded in the fifth inning and wasting a one-out triple by Addian Evans in the third.
