Tullahoma Bridges Out of Poverty Accepting Applications for Fall “Getting A Head” Class

By. Alexis Hill, Intern

Tullahoma Bridges Out of Poverty is now accepting applications for its fall “Getting A Head” class, a 16- to 18-week program designed to help individuals and families build the skills and resources needed to move out of poverty.

The program uses a small-group, discussion-based approach to explore the causes of poverty, why it exists, and practical strategies participants can use to achieve long-term financial stability.

To help remove barriers to participation, the program provides free childcare, a meal at each class, and a $25 stipend for every class attended.

The fall session begins Aug. 17.

Those interested in participating can contact Ernie Jones at 865-244-9321 for more information or pick up and return an application at Waters Edge Chocolate on Anderson Street in Tullahoma. Applications are also available through the organization’s website.

In addition to recruiting participants, Tullahoma Bridges Out of Poverty is seeking financial support from community members and businesses to help continue its mission of reducing poverty in Tullahoma and the surrounding communities.
