Today, the Tullahoma Police Department recognized six officers on night shift with letters of commendation by Chief Sons concerning outstanding actions in stopping a burglary and apprehending a subject in coordination with Manchester Police and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. The letter reads as follows and is addressed to Sergeant Weaver, Corporal Hackworth, Officer McKnight, Officer Stewart, Officer Tobitt, and Officer Fleming (pictured) of TPD:

“It is with great pride that I formally commend each of you for the outstanding performance and professionalism you demonstrated during the burglary investigation at the Citgo Gas Station & Convenience Store on February 24, 2026.

Your swift response at approximately 0231 hours, immediate perimeter establishment, and coordinated building entry reflected sound tactical awareness, officer safety discipline, and an unwavering commitment to protecting our community. The rapid confirmation of the burglary, identification of the stolen ATM as the target, and clear communication among responding officers kept the investigation moving decisively and without delay.

Officer Fleming’s proactive efforts in locating the suspect vehicle, combined with Sergeant Weaver’s sharp attention to the evidentiary value of taillight debris, are a testament to the kind of communication and scene management that makes the difference in a fast-moving investigation. The felony traffic stop that followed was conducted safely, professionally, and in close coordination with our partnering agencies — resulting in the recovery of the stolen ATM and the apprehension of a suspect wanted on multiple active warrants who was also on parole at the time of the offense.

The teamwork displayed that night reflects the highest standards of law enforcement service. Your actions directly contributed to the swift resolution of this crime, the recovery of stolen property, and the removal of a repeat offender from our streets.

Each of you should take pride in what you accomplished. The professionalism and dedication you showed brings great credit upon yourselves, the Tullahoma Police Department, the Manchester Police Department, and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. Nights like this are a reminder of why the work you do matters — and why the citizens of this community are fortunate to have you serving them. – Chief Sons”

Great work, officers, and congratulations on a job well done. Thank you for your dedication to service to the City of Tullahoma, and thank you to our sister agencies in Manchester and Coffee County!
