Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner Will Reid announced that Winchester’s Multimodal Access Grant proposal, SR-130 (North High Street) Northwest 1st Avenue to Northwest 5th Avenue, was selected for funding in the amount of $1,125,041.00. The total project funding will be in the form of a split match with 95% State match, in the amount of $1,125,041.00, and a minimum requirement of a 5% local match. TDOT awarded $4 million in Multimodal Access Grant (MMAG) funding for four projects that support pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users through infrastructure improvements addressing existing gaps along state routes.
TDOT’s Multimodal Access Grant is a state-funded program created to support the transportation needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users through infrastructure projects that address existing gaps along state routes. Multimodal facilities play an important role in providing transportation choices for people across Tennessee. With half of all trips in the United States being three miles or less, good walking, biking and transit facilities are essential to the continued growth and success of our towns and cities.
Winchester would like to say a special thanks to Tennessee State Senator Janice Bowling, Tennessee State Representative Iris Rudder, Lisa Cross – South Central RPO Coordinator, and Yvonne Stewart, City of Winchester Project Manager for being 1 of 4 projects awarded in Tennessee.
